You can’t just sweep this across your brows and expect it to pick up stray hairs. It’s just when you actually use it that things don’t turn out so great. The shape, the design, it’s all flawless and a very good idea. It also has a handy light at the tip making it easy to see the hairs on your brows. It has an on and off switch and takes one AA battery to operate. So, as you can see this is designed like a pen. I was pretty confident that I could easily whisk away stray hairs and shape my brows with this pen but nope, that didn’t happen. ![]() My brows were just a carnage! It was uni-brow glam all day, every day. At the time I was really being super careful what I purchased online as I didn’t want to contribute to making things harder for essential workers but I really did feel like this was essential item. I paid $20 at Target and eagerly awaited my package. Uh yeah, so, it didn’t quite work out that way. Here was a little epilator pen that promised to gently remove stray hairs while shaping my brows! Yes, this would totally make me look like a normal person again! You know what? It was sort of hard finding one in stock at the time! I urge more companies to come onboard.ġ0. The Public Service has taken the lead by adopting the Tripartite Standard. Today, 1 in 4 employees work in companies that have adopted the Tripartite Standard, and this coverage is steadily growing. Adopters are recognised as progressive employers that have put in place HR practices for effective communication and implementation of flexible work arrangements. Some have shown their commitment by adopting the Tripartite Standard on Flexible Work Arrangements. We applaud the many employers who have made the shift towards flexible work arrangements. In 2021, 73% of companies that adopted flexible work arrangements said they were likely to continue offering them post-COVID.ĩ. Flexible work arrangements also allow businesses to tap on a bigger pool of workers, including seniors and differently-abled workers, as suggested by Mr Sharael Taha.Ĩ.ěusinesses recognise these benefits. As pointed out by Mr Yip Hon Weng, flexible work arrangements help companies better attract and retain talent. The pandemic has underscored how flexible work arrangements can strengthen business continuity and resilience. Flexible work arrangements apply to men too, and allow more balanced sharing of caregiving responsibilities between women and men.ħ. This can be in the form of flexi-time, flexi-place, or flexi-load. I agree with Ms Janet Ang and Ms Yeo Wan Ling that one of the ways to enable more women to continue their careers is having access to flexible work arrangements. To manage caregiving roles, some women work part-time, with reduced pay, or even leave their careers early.Ħ. We recognise that women carry heavier caregiving responsibilities at home. A key concern raised among women was the need to help caregivers remain in or re-enter the workforce. I participated in the nation-wide Conversations on Singapore Women’s Development last year. While there’s progress made, there’s room for more women to be active in the workforce. As we prepare to celebrate International Women’s Day tomorrow, we should take pride in the resilience of our female workforce in Singapore.ĥ. The employment rate for women aged 25 to 64 has been growing over the past two decades, and continued to grow from 73.2% in 2020 to 75.1% in 2021, despite the pandemic. Women have made significant progress in Singapore. My speech will focus on how the MOM team will uphold inclusive and progressive workplace practices so that everyone has fair opportunities to contribute and thrive at work.Ĥ. As our workers navigate uncertainty and stresses during this period, the importance of supporting their well-being has come into even sharper focus.ģ. Outgoing shareholders would bypass the previously regulated sales procedure, and find their own buyers on the market.ĭissolving our building’s Mitchell-Lama status would be a small but significant injustice in an already deeply unequal city. Those who had been waiting for years for a Mitchell-Lama unit would be left in limbo, since the city-run, external waiting list of prospective residents would be discarded. ![]() A two-bedroom unit at Cadman that currently costs $60,000, for example, would go for about $300,000-still a steal compared to stratospheric market rates in our neighborhood, but now out of reach for the majority of New Yorkers. Outgoing shareholders could sell their units for four or five times the initial equity they invested, and pocket half of the sale. ![]() Most saliently, 2-to-11 conversion at Cadman Towers would entail a spike in sales prices. Advocates of affordable housing who have long fought to protect one of New York City’s signature low- and middle-income housing programs now worry that other Mitchell-Lama boards will follow Cadman’s lead in attempting to dismantle this important public good. This threat of semi-privatization has raised the concern of Mitchell-Lama coalitions across the city. The process, known as “Article 2 to Article 11 conversion” in housing law parlance, would reconstitute our public, subsidized housing complex as a much more expensive, semi-private HDFC co-op. So it was alarming when, in December of 2021, our board of directors formally submitted a plan to take our building out of the Mitchell-Lama program. Subsidized by the city and state in the form of generous tax abatements and public financing opportunities, Mitchell-Lama housing was created so that families with modest earnings could afford to put down roots in the city, and so that prices would not lurch upward every time a unit turned over. ![]() Since I moved in at Cadman Towers with my partner two years ago, I have felt exceptionally lucky to benefit from the uniquely affordable arrangement that is the New York State Mitchell-Lama program.
